After attending many readings of my scripts and participating in the forums afterwards, I am always asked the following question by someone in the audience, "Why do you write?" The answer to that is simple. "I have no talent for anything else."

Usually the second question is, "What inspires you to write?" Well that may be a bit more difficult to respond to with clarity, but I shall try. An unfair incident or injustice is usually what moves my work forward. For example, in the case of Grossman's Urn, The Whisperer, and my current work in progress, the screenplay Shalom Etranger; the incidents that inspired them were the results of anti-Semitic behaviors.

Grossman's Urn, deals with anti-Semitism at the country club level. The Whisperer, delves into the Alfred Dreyfus affair. In Shalom Etranger, a young man seeks to avenge the death of his brothers slain by a brutal Romanian concentration camp guard.

At times working upon these pieces drains me emotionally, as I live and breathe these characters day and night. To alleviate this tension I revert to writing plays in a lighter vein. Hopefully with a touch of humor as in, Goldfish, Giulianied, and The King's English.

What is my mission as of late? I am extremely proud of my sons, John-Ryan, 23, a film student a SDSU and Sean, 20, who is a bass guitar player, avid skateboarder, and is persuing audio/visual at a local JC. John-Ryan started to read my dialogue and discovered his old man has a little talent. He approached me after reading my short treatment of Shalom Etranger and said, "Dad, I would really like to work on this with you!" I am proud that he sees just as much potential in my efforts as I do in his, and I look forward to this father-son team effort to bring our vision to the screen. As usual, once our screenplay is complete my wife and partner, Wanda, will offer her valuable and most wanted suggestions. She will then place it upon the computer and the family team effort will be complete.

My mission? To quote Eugene O'Neill, "I wish to be an artist or nothing…"

The plays consist of, in the case of my full length plays only Act 1, SCENE one. My 10 minute plays...An American Sunset...The Thing....and The Kings English are in their entirety. Screenplays are the first ten pages. Short stories and poems are presented in their entirety. All work is presented in web format for on-line reading, the Adobe Acrobat format for Acrobat fans, and the Word for Windows format for Microsoft Word users.

I hope that we covered everyone format-wise. If you have any technical problems with this site or the files, please email Jeshea5050@aol.com. And please sign the guestbook!
